Weddings & Events

How many guests can the ranch hold?

Up to 230 guests seated inside the barn. Ceremonies outside in the orchard or vineyard seat the same number.

Where does the ceremony happen?

Outside, almost always. You can choose the orchard on one side of the barn or the vineyard on the other. The reception then moves inside the barn, and dancing finishes the night on the patio under the Edison bulbs.

What if it rains?

Your event goes ahead rain or shine. The ceremony moves inside the barn, and you’re welcome to bring in pop-up tents for the lawn if you want covered space outdoors.

What’s included?

Round tables and chairs, our bar and a bartender, the bridal suite for the whole day, setup access the day before, private parking, restrooms with heating and cooling, and the full grounds — exclusively yours.

Is there a kitchen?

No. Caterers work from their own equipment, which the caterers on our preferred list are set up for. There is plenty of power.

How much does it cost?

Pricing depends on your guest count and date. Send both with your inquiry and we’ll reply with figures. A $3,500 retainer secures your date, Sunday-to-Thursday weddings are discounted, and so are summer and winter dates.

How do payments work?

After the retainer, payments are spread across the months before your wedding, usually every three to six months. The balance is due 30 days before the event.

How do tours work?

Tours are private — one couple at a time — and arranged by request around your schedule. Allow about an hour. There’s no fee and nothing to sign.

Can we bring our own vendors?

Yes. Our preferred vendors know the property, but you’re free to bring any caterer, planner, photographer or DJ you like.

What are the bar rules?

Our bartender serves your bar. Hard liquor is served until dinner; beer and wine continue through the night. No shots at any time.

What time does the night end?

Music off at 10:00 pm, guests out by 10:30 pm, vendors loaded out by 11:00 pm.

Can we have sparklers, candles or fireworks?

Sparklers, yes. Fireworks, no. Open flames, no — flameless candles only.

Is smoking allowed?

The ranch is non-smoking, with a designated smoking area for guests.

Is the venue accessible?

Yes. The grounds, barn and restrooms are wheelchair accessible, and parking is on site.

Can we hold a corporate or non-wedding event?

Absolutely. Company dinners, retreats, milestone birthdays, fundraisers, celebrations of life — the barn and grounds host all of them.

What’s your cancellation policy?

[Deposit, cancellation and rescheduling policy]

How do we get there?

We’re at 300 Grimes Ave, Modesto, CA 95358. The gates are always open for tours and events — watch for the lit-up Richard’s Ranch sign at the road and follow the drive to the private parking area.
